SAP for Government and Public Sector

Public sector SAP work carries a constraint that private sector work does not: every transaction has to withstand audit. Departments, municipalities and state institutions answer to the Auditor-General, to the PFMA and MFMA, and ultimately to the public. That reality shapes how a system should be configured long before anyone discusses user experience.

What we deliver

World Link Consulting supports government bodies and municipalities across the SAP landscape, from core finance and procurement through to the reporting layer that makes spending visible.

  • Financial management and budgeting aligned to statutory reporting cycles
  • Procurement and supply chain processes with the approval controls public tender requires
  • Asset and plant maintenance for infrastructure-heavy institutions
  • Human capital and payroll, including annual statutory and regulatory updates
  • SAP Analytics Cloud dashboards that give executives and oversight committees a current view
  • Controlled, logged access to sensitive data, so who saw what is answerable after the fact

Why the 2027 deadline matters here

Mainstream maintenance for SAP ECC ends on 31 December 2027. For public sector bodies the risk is concentrated in compliance: once SAP stops shipping legal change packages, keeping payroll and statutory reporting correct becomes an in-house cost. Procurement cycles in government are long, which means the decision has to start earlier than it would elsewhere.

Access, transparency and control

Institutions handling citizen and employee data need to demonstrate not just that access is restricted, but that it is recorded. We build governed access to SAP data, where queries run against an approved scope and every extract is logged with a stated business reason, rather than relying on broad transactional access reviewed after the fact.
